Seton-La Salle joins
the KDKA WeatherBugŪ Schools Network
Seton-La Salle has installed a new WeatherBug Tracking Station
and will be able to provide weather data for the meteorological
team at KDKA-TV to broadcast online and on-air. The Tracking
Station will also be used to enhance the school’s curriculum
using the WeatherBug Achieve program.
WeatherBug’s media partner in Pittsburgh, KDKA, leverages
WeatherBug’s national network of tracking stations to offer
Pittsburgh area residents the most local, up-to-the-second
weather information available in Pittsburgh and throughout the
country. Now, KDKA will also be able to feature
neighborhood-level reports from Seton-La Salle during its daily
newscasts on-air and online.
The WeatherBug Schools Program is committed to providing an
engaging teaching tool for schools nationwide. WeatherBug’s
interactive software program, WeatherBug Achieve, enables
teachers to apply real-world conditions in math, science, and
geography. Teachers and students in K-12 have access to weather
data from any WeatherBug site across the country. Using
WeatherBug Achieve, teachers can create customized learning
activities based on current and historical weather conditions
from the Seton-La Salle WeatherBug Tracking Station, such as
wind speed or humidity. In addition, students can compare local
weather conditions to data from more than 8,000 other tracking
stations nationwide.
