WPIAL FINALISTS: 2010

RECENT NEWS & ACCOMPLISHMENTS:

  • The Rebel Lacrosse team finished the 2011 season with their best record in school history at 15-2 overall.
     

  • The Rebels finished the season as the #1 ranked WPIAL team by laxpower.com,
    and were ranked #34 in Pennsylvania, their highest finish ever.
     

  • They won their first ever Section Championship, finishing 9-1 in the section.
     

  • Season highlights included the team overnight trip to Washington DC where they defeated St. Elizabeth Seton High School of Maryland and Paul VI of Fairfax.
     

  • Senior Captain Cate Hansberry set a new team record for career goals with 146. On the year she had 61 goals and 17 assists. Cate was selected as The Almanac lacrosse MVP. Cate was also selected as US Lacrosse Honorable Mention All-American.
     

  • Senior Captain Alessandra Nicholas finished the year with 43 goals, 22 assists. Alessandra is only the third member of the Seton “Century Club” scoring 105 goals in her Rebel career. She has been a WPIAL All-Star, Post-Gazette.com Player of the week and laxburgh.com player of the week in her career at Seton. Alessandra will continue her lax career on an athletic scholarship at Seton Hill University.
     

  • Senior Captain and goalie Erin Fitch finished her amazing career with a team record 0.71 save percentage for the 2011 season. Erin’s overall record as a starter in 3+ years in goal is 49-15-1. Erin also is the first SLS player to be selected to the US Lacrosse All-American Team.
     

  • Senior Amy O’Keefe finished her three-sport (volleyball, basketball, lax) Rebel career with a nomination as a finalist for The Almanac Female Athlete of the year.
     

  • Voted as WPIAL All-Stars in 2011; Cate Hansberry, Erin Fitch, Annie Rodgers and Maddie Hanley.
     

  • US Lacrosse All –Academic Team members for 2011 include; Cate Hansberry, Amy O’Keefe, Nicole Nath, Annie Rodgers and Lenna Shoplik.
     

  • Head Coach Brian Klisavage was voted the 2011 WPIAL Coach of the Year.
     

  • Winning Heritage: Rebel lax alumni have played for or are currently playing at the following colleges: Canisius College, St. Francis University, Seton Hill University, Allegheny College, St. Vincent College, University of Rochester, College of Wooster, Gannon University, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Catholic University, Mercyhurst College.
