St. Patrick's Day Parade 2009

The SLS Rebel Marching Band includes the Musicians, the Rebelettes Dance Squad and the Silks Drill Team. The musicians meet at the 2nd period as a regular class and receive 1 fine arts credit toward their graduation requirements. There are two sections of band: Concert Band and Honors Concert Band/Marching Band. Both groups make up the Concert Band but the honors students make up the marching band and receive greater weight for their grade which improves over all QPA. Also, each student in the band program receives a music lesson once a cycle.

The band performs at all football games and at the Christmas and Spring concert. Other activities the band participates in during the year are the "St. Patrick's Day" Parade in downtown Pittsburgh, Kennywood Park Fall Fantasy Parade, a Memorial Day Parade, pep rallies, and band festivals.

The band goes on a four day trip in the Spring. Past trips include: New York City, Ocean City,
Virginia Beach, Chicago, and every four years a trip to Walt Disney World in Orlando Florida.

Auditions for Rebelettes and Silks are held separately each May.
