Are you looking for
an extra-curricular activity that will complement your high
school experience and leave you with skills that will last a
lifetime?
Consider
Forensics!
Forensics is
competitive high school speech and debate. Students choose from
a variety of speech and debate categories, select an appropriate
literary piece or prepare to debate a current events topic, and
compete at local high school tournaments. Some events are
memorized, some are extemporaneous, and some are read from a
binder. Practices begin in the fall to prepare for local
tournaments which take place from December through March.
Practice times can be tailored so as not to conflict with other
school activities.
Forensics is a
great activity to improve speaking skills and ease the fears of
facing an audience. Students have the opportunity to be
creative, win trophies, and even compete at State and National
tournaments. College admissions boards are very impressed with
forensics experience and there are even college scholarships
available.
Watch the halls and
listen for announcements of our first introductory meeting in
September. For more information, contact one of the coaches. We
will be glad to put you in touch with a current team member.
