Student Tutoring
Moderator: Mr.
Timothy Zugates -
zugatest@slshs.org
The
Seton-La Salle Student Tutorial Program is quite vast and currently
has approximately 70 students who donate their time and academic
achievement to help other students who are struggling in any
particular subject. Students who are in National Honor Society are
expected to be tutors as a service to the school, but students of
any grade level who excel in a subject are more than welcomed to
volunteer as tutors. This is a great opportunity to display
leadership, but it also involves maturity and responsibility.
Students who desire a student tutor must meet with Mr. Zugates to
fill out a preliminary application and contract for tutorial
services. The usual times for meeting with a tutor are before
school, after school, or during the lunch period. It must be
understood that this is a commitment and is not for the
disinterested student. Tutoring involves communication between the
student, the student tutor, the subject teacher, Mr. Zugates
(guidance staff), and the parents. It is the responsibility of the
student receiving the instruction to keep all parties informed to
encourage student responsibility for their own learning.
