Baseball team wins WPIAL 2A Championship

Congratulations to our Rebels Baseball team, who won the WPIAL 2A Championship after an 11-2 win over Serra Catholic on May 29! (Photo courtesy of TribLIVE HSSN)

Rebels first baseman Daniel Boehme, '20, went 5 for 5 at bat and hit for a full cycle: a single, a double, two triples (his first two of the season), and a home run. Read more on the Rebels' performance on TribLIVE's High School Sports Network HERE.

This is the Rebels first Championship win since 1995, when current Head Coach Mike Wagner, '97, donned the Rebels green and gold under the direction of Mr. Chuck Rutter. Rutter is now an assistant coach for Wagner's Rebels in addition to his role as a physical education teacher at SLS. Here's a photo of the two embracing after the Rebels Championship win.

The Rebels will go to bat against the District 10 Runner-Up in the PIAA State Playoffs, which kick off on Monday, June 3. Great job on your WPIAL Championship, and good luck at states!
