Three Students Honored as South Hills Christian Athletes

The 20th Annual South Hills Christian Athlete Recognition Breakfast held at Christ United Methodist Church selected 15 area athletes to recognize, including Seton LaSalle juniors Danny Sentner, Venessa Peretin and Faith Kisker. The athletes were nominated by their church's youth pastors based on church and community involvement, as well as their athletic and academic achievements. The event featured a motivational speech by NFL veteran and director of Locking Arms Men, Leo Wisniewski.

Vanessa Peretin is an All-Section player on the SLS Varsity Girls Soccer Team. She earns High Honors at Seton LaSalle, participates in Rebels for Life, Environmental Club and the Office Staff. Vanessa was nominated by Jason Zych, Youth Minister at St. Louise de Marillac, who mentioned Vanessa's active support of her parish as well as her strong personal faith.

Danny Sentner runs Cross Country and Track at Seton LaSalle and played CYO Basketball this year. He's a member of the National Honor Society, National English Honor Society, Junior Achievement and Environmental Club at Seton LaSalle. Danny was nominated by Jason Zych as well. Danny participates in the St. Louise de Marillac Youth Group, teaches a middle school faith program called EDGE on Wednesday nights and volunteers as an altar server.

Faith Kisker is a three-year letter winner on the Seton LaSalle Varsity Swim Team, and earned the "Most Dedicated Swimmer" award her freshman year. At school, Faith is President of Girls (and Guys) Who Code, VP of the STREAM Team and Lighting Director for Fall Drama and Spring Musical. She is in the Marching Band, Concert Band, Junior Achievement, Rebels Reach Out, National Honor Society, National English Honor Society and is a Student of the Month. At her church, Christ United Methodist, Faith sings with the Youth Choir each Sunday, attends Youth Group and volunteers with several local organizations to help combat hunger. She was nominated by her Youth Director, Kirsten Miller, who mentioned Faith's joyful participation in annual youth mission trips.
