Two SLS Juniors Receive Greenfield Youth Award

Congratulations to Madison Goetzman, '20, and Gabe Rosario, '20, who both received the Greenfield Youth Award on November 17.

The students received this recognition at the 33rd Annual Greenfield Community Awards, an evening to celebrate the neighborhood's residents, volunteers, teachers and youth. Each student received a Greenfield Youth Award plaque, recognizing them for being exemplary role models and displaying leadership for the other youth of the Greenfield community. In addition, the students received a Certificate of Recognition from Representative Dan B. Frankel, of PA's 23rd Legislative District, a formal Senate of Pennsylvania Congratulations, along with a County of Allegheny Community Citation of Recognition from County Executive Rich Fitzgerald.

Madison is involved in many extracurricular activities at SLS, participating in the National English Honor Society, Fall Drama, Spring Musical, Trebels, Silks, Junior Achievement, the Rebel Report and the yearbook, in addition to serving as an SLS ambassador. Madison has been teaching CCD at her parish, Saint Rosalia, for the past two years.She plans to attend college in New York City and is considering a sociology major.

Gabe has played on Seton's soccer team for three years, starting for two years. He has also been playing basketball since his sophomore year. Gabe serves as a Crossroads ambassador and was selected to attend one month of classes at Penn State University to learn how to become a teacher. He has won several essay writing competitions, including the Martin Luther King, Jr. Essay contest, and has won the Do Things Write Essay Contest twice. Gabe plans to attend West Point and hopes to join the military, where he intends to focus on Intelligence.
