Chris Chapman

Chris Chapman joined Seton LaSalle in 2019 as a religion teacher and member of our Campus Ministry team after 12 years of working for the Diocese of Pittsburgh.

Originally from Dormont, Chris attended Keystone Oaks High School and earned a BA in Liberal Studies from the University of Pittsburgh. During his time in college, Chris fell away from the Faith, but returned by the grace of God and became involved with the Newman Center run by the Oratorians. It was there that he first became interested in Philosophy and Theology and began taking Catholocism seriously. This experience inspired him to pursue a Masters in Theology and Christian Ministry at Franciscan University in Steubenville.

Upon completing his studies, Chris taught Theology at the high school level in Pottsville, PA, and Greenville, SC. Since moving back to Pittsburgh in 2007, he has worked for the Diocese of Pittsburgh, holding several positions including Director of Adult Faith Formation, Consultant for Elementary School Catechesis, Pre-K—12 Catechetical Director, Director of Catholic Identity, and most recently, Director of Religious Education.

In 2016, Chris married Emily Stimpson, and they adopted their son Tobias (Toby) in 2018 and Beckett in 2020. They live in Crafton and like all faithful Pittsburghers, follow the Steelers, Penguins, and Pirates. More importantly though, Chris is interested in how Christians mature in Christ. He loves the Church's vision for Marriage and Family, questions of culture, and all things pertaining to the integration of Faith and reason. Chris tries to live St. Paul's admonition, later adopted by St. Philip Neri to, "Rejoice Always!".
