Brian Gilchrist

Dr. Brian Gilchrist joined Seton LaSalle in 2023. He holds degrees from the following universities: West Virginia University (B.A. in English, B.S. in Broadcast News Journalism, and M.A. in English) and Duquesne University (Ph.D. in Rhetoric). He earned teaching certification for Communications 7-12 and English 7-12 through Robert Morris University.  He taught Communication classes at Eastern University and Mount St. Mary’s University (The Mount) before returning home to enter secondary education. As a professor, he published scholarly articles that explored the relationships among people, communication, and technology. As a Permanent Substitute Teacher of English and Journalism at Mt. Lebanon High School, he used his extensive online teaching experience to assist his students during the Covid-19 outbreak. Recently, he taught Language Arts 7 and 8 and Social Studies 7 (World Geography) and 8 (American History) at St. Gregory Catholic School in Zelienople, PA. He is excited to teach English and Media classes such as the School Newspaper and Yearbook at Seton LaSalle. He looks forward to providing a values-based Catholic education to his students and contributing to the positive community in Seton LaSalle.
