Marching Band
DIRECTOR: MR. MICHAEL COLUMBUS, SLS '11
THE SETON LASALLE REBEL MARCHING BAND INCLUDES THE MUSICIANS AND COLOR GUARD.
The Marching Band performs at football games for both pregame and halftime, as well as at pep rallies, band festivals, and several parades throughout the year. These may include Kennywood Park Fall Fantasy parade, St. Patrick’s Day Parade, Memorial Day Parade, and other community events.
The band features a wide variety of instruments, including drumline (quads/tenors, bass drums, snare, and cymbals), flute, piccolo, clarinet, trumpet, trombone, saxophone, mellophone, tuba, and more. If you are interested in joining but are unsure about your instrument or skill level, feel free to email us with any questions.
Color Guard is the visual component of the Marching Band. Members learn to spin flags, rifles, and sabres while incorporating dance and movement into performances. They bring color, energy, and visual excitement to the show. Auditions for Color Guard are held each spring before the end of the school year. For more information, email Emily Columbus, SLS '13, at [email protected].
Each spring, Marching Band members and students involved in the performing arts have the opportunity to participate in an optional trip that includes a parade and performance experience. These trips are optional and require a separate fee for those who choose to attend. Past destinations have included New York City, Ocean City, Virginia Beach, Chicago, Nashville, and Walt Disney World.
RISING REBELS PROGRAM FOR 7TH & 8TH GRADE STUDENTS
The Seton LaSalle Rebel Marching Band welcomes 7th and 8th grade students from local Catholic schools to be part of the program. Students have the opportunity to participate in high school band camp, after-school rehearsals, performances, and parades.
It’s a great way to experience marching band and get a glimpse of high school band life. If you’ve never marched before, don’t worry—we’ll teach you everything you need to know. All you need is the ability to play your instrument and a willingness to have fun!
MARCHING BAND DEDICATION & LEADERSHIP SCHOLARSHIP
The Seton LaSalle Marching Band continues to build a tradition of excellence, leadership, and school spirit both on and off the field. Each year, this $500 scholarship recognizes graduating seniors who demonstrate outstanding commitment, musicianship, teamwork, and leadership within the program. Selected by the marching band staff, these recipients exemplify the values that make the band such an important part of the Seton LaSalle community.
As we celebrate seniors and support their future educational pursuits, we also look ahead to welcoming new members into our growing marching band family every year. Students interested in music, performance, leadership, and lifelong friendships are encouraged to become part of a program that offers unforgettable experiences, school pride, and opportunities for recognition both during and beyond high school.
ALUMNI INVOLVEMENT
Each homecoming game, Rebel Marching Band alumni are invited to bring their instruments and join our musicians on the field for the halftime show. Any interested alumni should contact Mr. Michael Columbus, Director, at [email protected] for information on how to get involved.
