PJAS

Pennsylvania Junior Academy of Science (PJAS) provides students with the opportunity to expand their research and public presentation skills while utilizing the scientific method. Under supervision of science educators, participants develop independent research projects that they present to a panel of judges at the regional competition each February. PJAS is designed to promote an interest in science among its members through the development of research projects and investigations. Students whose scores qualify them for the first place category spend two days at Penn State University each May to compete at the state level. PJAS is a state organization that was founded in 1934 and is associated with the Pennsylvania Academy of Science.
PJAS is a state organization that was founded in 1934 and is associated with the Pennsylvania Academy of Science. Additionally, PJAS partners with the Pittsburgh Regional Science and Engineering Fair (PRSEF) to provide students with the opportunity to expand research, experimental methods and design. Students compete in a large science fair with visual boards displaying methods and results. Students compete in a two-day event each March at Heinz Field in Pittsburgh. PRSEF gives students the opportunity to spend time with peers who have a similar interest in science.
